Image from a recent architectural assignment in Manchester, inside the new Co-op headquarters building at One Angel Square. It’s what I technically refer to as a totally ‘batshit’ picture. Let me explain…(more below the scroll doooown)
This picture baffles me a bit, as I love it and hate it at the same time. I normally shy away from shooting less than 24mm on full frame for anything architectural, as it often distorts the image too much and makes aspects and ratios look out of kilter. In other words, it just looks wrong. But this situation was crying out for a super wide shot, in amongst the others for the job, so here it is. This is at 14mm, and is capturing every single one of the 14 floors, which are home to, or rather the workplace of 3,000 Co-op employees. It’s a crazy image, and it really needs to be seen large to appreciate the detail and scale of this impressive structure. Just wanted to share this one for now, I’ll hopefully update with more images from this particular shoot, mostly less batshit, at a later date.
